A step-by-step guide to building a Brunch Board using ingredients that can be found at Trader Joe’s. Perfect for Galentine’s or any Brunch Gathering.
Does anyone else LOVE the food board trend right now? If you follow @itskelseydiane on Instagram then you know that I started making Charcuterie Boards last year at the prompting of a couple friends and I immediately felt like I had found the perfect creative outlet. Since then, I’ve made boards for multiple gatherings, gifts, and just for fun! So when I was thinking about Galentine’s and the get together I was going to have with friends, then I knew that I wanted to do a food board.
As I was brainstorming, I decided that I wanted to do a Brunch inspired board and that I wanted to grab everything from my local Trader Joe’s, because I LOVE being able to find everything in one spot and I have a major love for all things TJs! They are my go to spot when I am building a Charcuterie Board, so why not for a Brunch Board.
What is a food board?
A food board is a collection of foods arranged on a board or platter. They can honestly include anything. Charcuterie Boards are arranged with meats, cheeses, crackers, nuts, fruits, etc. You can also make dessert boards, holiday themed boards, snack boards, really any kind of board that you want. Today it’s a brunch board!
How do you build a Food Board?
Honestly, there is no right or wrong way. The step-by-step here is going to explain how to make THIS particular board, but you can add or subtract items to fit your needs and preferences. All of the food based ingredients were purchased from Trader Joe’s, but if you don’t have a local TJ’s, you should be able to find comparable ingredients at your local grocery store.
Here’s what you need for this Galentine’s Brunch Board:
Everything is from Trader Joe’s, but please note that not every store will have the same items, though I tried my best to get items that are widely available at all Trader Joe’s.
Pancakes + Waffles:
- Organic Silver Dollar Pancakes
- Authentic Belgian Waffles
- Multi Grain Toaster Waffles
I chose to just do one type of meat on this board, but I think adding some bacon or different types of sausages would be great on this board too.
- Maple Chicken Breakfast Sausage
The possibilities are endless! You can go sweet, savory, do a mix. I opted to stay with sweeter options, because there were going to be other savory options at the brunch I made this for.
- Salted Butter
- Organic Raspberry Fruit Spread
- Authentic Lemon Curd
- Grade A Maple Syrup
- Sweet Rose Coconut Whipped Topping
This part really is up to you. I started by grabbing my square serving board from Wal-Mart, a set of 4 Ramekins, and a syrup container. To make this board a little more festive, I also grabbed some Valentine’s Day cupcake cups and toppers.
After placing the serving dishes on the tray, I built around them.
I chose to use the edges of the board for toppings, fruit, & sausage and used the center of the board for the pancakes and waffles. Anyway you put it together, it will be great!
The one thing I did love about the assembly of this board was using the cupcake cups for the Silver Dollar Pancakes. They fit perfectly inside and this creates a little holder so that your guests can easily pour syrup or add other toppings to their pancakes without making a huge mess. I put 3 of the silver dollar pancakes in each cup and topped them with the cute XO and Heart cupcake toppers.
This board was a HUGE hit with the ladies at my Galentine’s Gathering and I LOVED getting to share it with them. You can grab the printable list of ingredients below as well as check out the links to some other Galentine’s Day content from my friends!
